Jonathan Christenbury, M.D.

Jonathan Christenbury, M.D., F.A.C.S. is widely recognized as one of theUSA’s leading authorities on laser vision correction. As the first surgeon to perform the LASIK procedure in the Carolinas in the early 1990’s, he was also the first surgeon to perform the Intralasik procedure on the East Coast. Dr. Christenbury is now Medical Director of the Christenbury Eye Center, and is held in particularly high regard for his experience in the field, having performed over 70,000 LASIK procedures.

Dr. Christenbury is highly regarded for his experience performing ReSTOR® procedures, having performed the surgery over 8,000 times. He is also extremely experienced in cataract and lens implant surgery.

Having graduated from Duke University School of Medicine, Dr. Christenbury spent a year at the Jules Stein Eye Institute for his fellowship after undertaking his residency in ophthalmology at theDukeEyeCenter. He was awarded the highest level of distinction from the American College of Surgeons and is a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Christenbury is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS), International Society of Cataract, International Society of Bilateral Cataract Surgeons (ISBCS) and Refractive Surgery (ISCRS), and a founding member of the American College of Ophthalmic Surgery (ACOS).

Dr. Christenbury received the Goldline Award in 2008, 2009, and 2010, which is awarded to the ten most dependable laser eye surgeons inNorth America. He was also awarded the 2010 Consumer Choice Award for Business Excellence.
